Your job at 5miles 

To support our growth, we are looking for a software developer with some working experience, willing to help us with implement and improve our learning platform. It is the perfect job for anyone who is thinking about evolving in their development career path – working at 5miles will provide you with valuable experience to boost your career! 


What will you be doing?

You will have the opportunity to work on the development of our learning platform, which is currently built in Ruby on Rails, plus be involved in all our data ecosystem. You will divide your time between designing, developing, testing, bug solving and helping the other teams with Technology. As a key member of the team, you are expected to make a personal impact right from the start. You will have daily contact with our (senior) developers and with the founders.


Are you a match?

You are a proactive individual who has the drive to turn ideas into features. You already have 1-2 years of experience in software engineering (front and/or back-end). And most important, you are eager to learn and get things done.

Your profile:

  • You are able to turn ideas into features and well-structured code
  • You are a proactive and energetic Ruby on Rails developer, or comparable framework
  • You have at least two years of professional experience in front- and back-end development
  • You have experience with JavaScript and CSS (React will be great)
  • You have experience with PostgreSQL, or any major database engine
  • DevOps mindset, or willing to learn about it
  • You have a powerful ‘can do’ attitude, are attention-oriented and get a thrill out of teamwork
  • You are fluent in English; Dutch would be nice.
  • Valid EU working visa
